Neenah is busy getting ready for the big introduction of the revised Classic® Brands on October 3rd. But they still have time to create and share useful tools with us. CABINET™ is their new app.  It's not designed to replace your Neenah swatchbooks. It's designed to help them work better. Cabinet™ allows you to compare, search, filter and even mark your favorite Neenah stocks virtually. Keep track of your paper specs on printing jobs and more. And because Cabinet™ automatically updates itself over the Internet via Adobe Air®, you always have the latest and greatest information right at your fingertips. That said, Cabinet™ is an app that runs from your desktop and not the internet. It has an intuitive, drag-and-drop interface that allows you to customize it just the way you want it. Start the downloading now.

Part of the fun of working at Olmsted-Kirk is our daily interaction with truly original and creative designers. We enjoy being a part of their world and seeing the things they create with our papers. On that note, here is the story behind one such memorable project we did with Lewis Carnegie of Austin, Texas.

Husband and wife, Sean and Wendy combined their last names to create the name of their design studio. Lewis is Wendy's maiden name. Who knew it would cause such confusion? The studio frequently fields calls asking for Lewis. "Can I speak to Lewis?" "I saw Lewis's work. Is he available?" Rather than get offended, they embraced this imaginary "Lewis" and created a unique self-promotion series of 5 x 7, twelve page booklets based upon his character.

The first booklet, which recieved a full spread in the latest Communication Arts Illustration Annual was illustrated by Mark Todd. The cover is silkscreened in two colors on Neenah, Environment, Desert Storm and the interior text is digitally printed on Ultra White, smooth. It tells the tales of a prepubescent Lewis from the eyes and voice of a boyhood friend.

Currently, the second installment is being distributed. Illustrated by Scott Nash of Flat Stanley fame, it takes a softer look at Lewis from the perspective of 6 dogs and 1 cat. The cover is printed on Neenah, ESSE, Rosa (picked to mimic the pink of a packet of Sweet 'N Low). This cover is wrapped around an unprinted inside cover of Environment, Cosmos Black. And Sundance, Digital Felt, in Ultra White is used for the interior pages. Once again, the cover has been silkscreened for a hand-generated feel.

Olmsted-Kirk is pleased to be a part of the creative process, guiding Sean and Wendy in their search for just the right papers. It leaves us saying "That Lewis has a great eye for paper."
